A dated, yet spacious mid century ranch in Orinda received the modern makeover it had been waiting for. A diamond in the rough, this 5 bedroom 4 bathroom home was dark and awkward with tight internal hallways opening to a spiderweb of bedrooms. A massive central fireplace segregated the living spaces which were oddly sized and shaped. By taking out the massive structure, Amato Architecture was able to open the home into a bright and sweeping space fit to entertain gatherings of any size. By shifting the bedrooms, the internal hallway was opened up to create a central lounge space where family and friends can cozy up even while other guests are entertained in the main rooms.
